The highest quality of sound and musicality is only achieved by a perfect balance of the reed, the instrument and the player.

Materials that produce natural tonal beauty combined with perfection of production method is what creates consistent excellence.

The misassigning of the work load is the cause of the greatest source of frustration or seeming inability. For example, do not assign a task to the embouchure when in reality it is the task of the reed.

You must concentrate on perfecting each aspect in isolation, but never forgetting the relationship to the total context. For example, when working on determining the proper resistance and strength of the reed, the answer may be discovered through finger legato, voicing of intervals or pitch flexibility rather than quality of sound alone.

The first place to start is with a good Embouchure.
