The Romance of Form

this 8-week course will explore music from the composer’s point of view and answer the
following questions:

• How does music express emotion?
• How do composers create and notate music
  to guide the performer to a “true” interpretation?
• How can performers “break through the mysteries
  of notation” and allow themselves to passionately participate with the composer’s intentions?

Each participant will be asked to choose and prepare one piece of music. IT DOES NOT have to be perfect!

Next, we will analyze it from the composer’s point of view.

(Please prepare enough Xerox copies for everyone in the class – tba)

Then, you will play it again, with greater confidence and insight that will actually strengthen your technique and encourage the expansion of your emotional involvement— “making music from the heart.”

• Individual Instruction available
• Group Class Tuition: $300 for the 8-week course
  • $50 non-refundable deposit
• Make-up Sessions: There are no "individual" make up lessons or refunds for in group classes.
• Day and Time: Tuesday nights, 7:00 - 8:15.
  Each session will last one hour and fifteen minutes (1:15)
